Sunday was a good day at Dr. No's. Especially for Nick Stearns, who managed to go 3-0 against his opponents to take the first place prize in our Star Wars Miniatures Tournament.
Our newest player, Greg, got to play in this tournament and, despite not coming out on top... he played really, really well. We also got to meet Corey, who came out to find out about our RPG. Because we were able to start on time, the tournament went a full 4 rounds. It was very exciting to watch as everyone played very well. There were many times during each skirmish where it was difficult to predict who the final victor would be. I got to take a lot of pictures, and I've presented them and prepared a run-down of the days events after the break. |

There are a few events planned for this weekend that I thought I'd make mention of. First off, if you take a look at the Gaming Events link to the right, you'll notice that there is a Star Wars Customizable Card Game tournament scheduled for Saturday (12-06-08) at Dr. No's. This is a 4 game constructed deck tournament, starting at noon, with games continuing afterwards should you wish to play more. There will be prizes for the winner as well as prizes for any new players who show up.
Something to take note of; yesterday the Star Wars CCG Player's Committee issued a fairly large errata on 31 cards. Since this is obviously short notice, and the Players Committee have not gotten around to issuing the corresponding PDF files with the V-slips, they will not be used in this weekends tournament. You can read all about these changes by checking out the news post on the Players Committee website. If you have any questions about this weekends CCG tournament, just send an email to

I've just setup a new feature on the website that should help out those playing the Star Wars RPG with us. In fact, it should be helpful to anyone playing the Star Wars RPG (and possibly others, as I can easily expand it to include other games). We now have the ability to create and store our character sheets online.
Just go to the RPG Web Profiler section of the website and, once registered, start creating your characters. You can create multiple characters and edit them as you progress in their development. You can also make your character sheets viewable by the public, such as in this example. Your character cannot be altered or edited by anyone but yourself or, if you wish, you can grant your GM the ability to edit individual characters. The character sheets are easily printed on 8-1/2x11 sheets and you can even download your individual characters in XML format for use at another time. So give it a try (you can always delete a character and start over, or create a new character altogether if you aren't happy with your current one) and let me know what you think. As I said earlier, if there is a need, I can always add character sheets for other games (i.e. D&D, Serenity, etc) so there should be a lot that we can do with this. Lastly, as always, May The Force Be With You - Chuck |

This past Sunday's tournament at Dr. No's was a lot of fun and, while we didn't have enough people show up to hold a DCI sanctioned tournament, we were still able to play an in-store tournament with me as a player. This isn't normally the case as I usually find myself sitting alone at a table teaching others how to play or waiting for a ruling on something or other. So it was nice to actually be able to play for a change and to have a chance at winning some miniatures, should I be victorious. After it was all said and done, we not only got to play what amounted to a very fun tournament, we also got to meet Greg, a new player for our group. and an all around nice guy. In the week since the tournament, we've managed to get together with Greg on a number of occasions and he's gotten the chance to play most of us one-on-one. Since Greg is, more or less, just starting out with Miniatures he was given a handful of current Mini's by Nick and I to broaden his options when creating squads. So far, he's managed to put together some very competitive squads and has held his own really well. It's not going to be long, I figure, before Greg becomes the guy to beat. He catches on really fast and he's a lot of fun to play against. I managed to snap a few photos of the tournament which follow after the break, along with the tournament results. |
