Jedi Academy Training Manual Book Review

The Jedi Academy Training Manual from Wizards of the Coast is an excellent addition to the Star Wars Saga Edition Role Playing game from Wizards of the Coast – especially if your campaign focuses on an element of the Force (which many of course do).  Significantly different then the “Campaign Guides”, the Training Manual instead focuses on several Force filled elements and enhances the use of the Force while adding a few new twists to the RPG.

Covering everything from the Power of the Force (Chapter 1), the Philosophy of the Force (Chapter 2) we also see some new and interesting Equipment and Artifacts, Affiliated Programs (such as the Aing-Tii Monks, Baran Do Sages and Wardens of the Sky) as well as Chapters revolving around Instructors and Alumni, Dangers of Study and Studying Abroad (Chapter 7).

The perspective of the Manual is refreshing.  Told from the vantage point of a Padawan learner of the Force, delving into the material makes it quite an easy read as you picture yourself (or more accurately the character you are planning to build or to “upgrade”) as you peruse the training manual learning from the Force and new ways to “use it”.

Initiative Cards

The Star Wars D20 Roleplaying Game experience gets even better with the use of Star Wars Miniatures. They are not only indispensable for strategic battles, but they also help GMs and players to get a better feel for adventuring in the Star Wars universe.

So if you enjoy enhancing your SW RPG campaigns with the use of Star Wars Miniatures, don't just let those Stat Cards sit there. Use them as Initiative Cards for smoother combat encounters.

Owensboro Kentucky Regional Report

Well you may recall that I mentioned that our plans to go to the Kalamazoo Regionals had to be changed at the last minute and you might be wondering why. Daniel, Greg, Owen, Graham, and I all piled into Graham's van and headed to Owensboro Kentucky to play at the Star Wars Miniatures Regional being held at Coolector's Mall.

We got there about an hour early, due to the time change, and spent a good amount of our time prior to registration wandering around that extremely awesome store. If I'm ever in Owensboro again you can rest assured that I will go out of my way to visit there again. Not only was the store simply amazing... the people who worked there were just fantastic. And I was quite surprised to learn that Dennis "Boris the Dwarf" Beard would be acting as Judge for the day!

Dennis sent me a write up on the event so I'll let him tell you how everything went in his own words. Also, he sent a number of photographs for me to post and, as usual, click 'em to embiggen 'em!

A Look into the Legacy of the Force Guidebook
Written by Fool

The Legacy of the Force guidebook first gives us a brief overview of the time period which spans from the forming of the Galactic Alliance to the Imperial Civil War (which sees Darth Krayt take hold of power from then Emperor Roan Fel and depose him).  After that brief introduction, the bulk of the Legacy Campaign guide is introduced.

Alike the previous guidebooks, this one brings in a few more races into the fold.  Players who have waited for some of the more popular Star Wars races such as Chiss, Yuuzhan Vong or Zeltron to create their new characters need not wait any longer.  Obscure races specific to this time (more so than any other) like the peculiar Codru-Ji and the interesting Nagai (race of the Darth Nihl) are also introduced.  This complements some of the other more mainstream races such as Chagrian, Klatooinian and Weequay.
